Maths with Calculators

Today we used calculators to subtract numbers. We took away the tens first and then the ones. It's called the split method.

Nothing can separate us from God's LOVE

Today in Devotions we looked at Romans Chapter 8. We used paint to show that we can NEVER be separated from God!

We used white paint to show God and pink paint to show us.

Nothing can separate us from God!!

Romans 8:39

"Nothing at all can separate us from God's love because of what Christ Jesus our Lord has done."

Addition with and without trading

Who needs workbooks? This week we have been revising addition. We have been looking at bridging to 10- where you make add two single digit numbers to make 10 first, spilt strategy where you add the 10's and then the 1's and adding with and without trading- which is the main way most of our parents learnt. We are learning all these different ways do that we can use them to do Maths in our heads (or mentally). Oil and Water Don't Mix

Today 2DP did an experiment called Water and Oil.
We used
* glass and plastic containers
* water
* food colouring
* oil

We found out that oil floats on water. Oil and water don't mix!
We used tissues to pretend to be birds that go in the water when there is an oil spill. The tissues soaked up the oil, just like the birds do.

Drama

Today 2DP had a great time in Drama. We played some drama games and worked in groups to create some great mini plays.

Exodus

Irene Gleeson

EXODUS came to our school today during Church time.

We heard a lady named Irene Gleeson speak. She spoke about visiting Africa in 1988 and the selling her beachside home and towing a Caravan to North Uganda. She started with 50 children, feeding them and teaching them under a mango tree.

Now she is part of a group that looks after 10 000 children. They provide full day care, food, medicine and education. WOW!

Then we heard an amazing band named EXODUS. Their lead singer George shared his story with us.

We had so much fun, we couldn't even sit down. We were dancing out of our seats!

Soccer Stars

Well, what an amazing morning we had today 2DP!


Some of our students went down to the Senior Oval and took part in Cottees 5-a-side
lead by 2 girls who play in Sydney FC and the Matildas!
Everyone had a great time and loved the free showbags that were handed out at the end. A special thanks you to Miss Berrell who organised the day and our amazing Year 9 helpers.
